It should be thick enough to create a seal around your hair, but not too much it’ll weigh down your curls and prevent the moisture to penetrate into the scalp well.
For me, I use a leave-in conditioner that I make myself.
It’s just the right texture, so it stays in my hair and keeps it from drying out.
2. Wash Your Hair, After.
When you wash your hair, you want to get rid of all the conditioner you applied.
This is why it’s important to condition your hair first.
Once you’re done washing your curls, rinse it thoroughly with water and then towel dry.

To avoid this, just comb through your curls and avoid rubbing it down with your fingers.
If you do it the other way, you’ll end up with a lot of products stuck to your strands, making them end up looking oily.
The right amount of conditioner
If you look at the instructions on your conditioner, you’ll see that it usually says something like “add to conditioner and lather well.”
This means that you’ll want to add your conditioner and then lather it with water.
Once you’ve lathered it well, rinse thoroughly with warm water.
The reason why you rinse is to get rid of all the conditioner you added.
Failing to do that, means you’ll end up with a lot of products stuck to your curls, and making it end up looking greasy.
