In Season This Time, All The Style That’ll Work Best With Your Long 4C Natural Hair!
Table of Contents
This time around is when we usually start thinking about how to get that quick natural hairstyles 4c.
Each strand on my crown is on a tight budget, but it’s not always on a tight timeline. So for this time of year, I want to share with you what I like to do with my curls, hairstyles and all.
Fair warning, though, I’m a firm believer in long-term value, which means I love to get the best value for my money.
The kind of love I am sure many will relate to.
I have found that some of the products that I use to get easy 4c hairstyles for my curls will last a very long time.
My favorite in-season products
Now that summer is here, and it’s time to get the beach ready, I’ve been doing some serious thinking about what’s in season and what’s best for my type 4C hair. I love having long bouncy curls, but it can be hard to keep it moisturized and protected from the sun.
Here are a couple options: I can wear a full-coverage style with a hat and sunscreen, or I can wear a lighter, easier-to-care-for type.
I thought I could just do a few tests with some of the products I’ve been using to find out which ones worked best with me and which ones were just okay. I decided to try some I’ve been hoarding in my own home to see what they’re like with my strands.
I’m aware that many natural products work well on long curls, but I’m not sure which ones will work best on mine.
My curl type is long 4C natural hair with kinky/wavy/coily/curly pattern.
It’s the one that’s a bit curly but not really kinky.
So I thought I’d do a post that will help you figure out which products will work best with your long hair, and here’s what I came up with:
SheaMoisture Deep Conditioner – 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Rehydration Treatment Masque: This Coconut Oil treatment delivers powerful hydrating for all curl types and is one of the finest deep conditioners for bleached, dry, and brittle hair.
Even better, since it’s lightweight and has a lovely aroma, you can keep this conditioner in your head all day.
The problem is just that it’s only available in one size, so if you have thick, curly ones, you’ll need to be sure to buy enough!
It’s not cheap, but if you’re looking for a deep conditioning masque that won’t weigh your curls down, this is an excellent choice.
Deep conditioning with Coconut Oil is a tried-and-true treatment for dry, harsh, or brittle strands, and this deeply nourishing treatment has a proprietary mix of 100% Virgin Coconut and Shea Oils, creamy Coconut Milk, and Acacia Senegal to enhance moisture for silky smooth, lustrous curls.
It boosts the hydration in your strands, leaving it soft and manageable, while the antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids help repair damaged strands.
This is a gentle, low-pH formula that helps protect your curls and scalp from environmental damage.
Curl Shaper™ Double Duty Weightless Cleansing Conditioner:
The Curl Shaper™ Double Duty Conditioner is designed to give you the ultimate salon-quality curls with a sleek, moisturized, and frizz-free finish.
The conditioning treatment is infused with Keratin complex, which protects and nourishes your crown while leaving it soft and manageable.
The treatment also contains high levels of protein to help your curls retain moisture while preventing breakage and frizz.
I got the opportunity to put it to the test today to help get the natural hairstyles for medium length 4c hair, and I’m quite happy! I evaluated how my curls felt and behaved after co-washing with Curlsmith, T-Gin, and Ouidad’s own Cleansing Oil Shampoo.
The differences among the three are quite subtle: Curlsmith – no real difference T-Gin – less tangly, but still not as smooth as when washed with the oil shampoo Ouidad’s Cleansing Oil Shampoo – the most effective!
The texture was noticeably smoother than when washed with the other two products. It really made my curls feel great.
Ouidad’s Cleansing Oil Shampoo is a gentle cleansing oil treatment that moisturizes and protects the strands.
It cleanses your curls while leaving it soft and manageable and works really well with all kinds of curl types I know.
I had to carefully think about whether I needed to use a different conditioner after cleaning with this product, and I usually do. I ended up using a conditioner from another brand of Ouidad, a detangler from another line of Ouidad, and two style products from another line of Ouidad.
I have to admit, my crown looks and feels fantastic!
I let it air dry while I dressed, then zapped the top for 3 minutes while hanging upside down, then let the rest air dry.
I have twice as many perfectly formed curls as normal, and the continuous straw-like strip in the rear center of my head has vanished.
The end result is neither greasy, oily, sticky, crunchy, nor weighted down. With that, I’m sold!
Redken’s Full Frame 07 Protective Volumize Mousse: This professional hairstylist’s product has medium control, brushable volume, and anti-frizz protection and is second after Redken’s number one best-selling root volumizing spray
The product works well for all hair types, including coarse, fine, color-treated, and long 4c natural hair.
Give your hair root lift like no other, all while maintaining a natural feel and texture.
It’s an effective way to boost the appearance of thinning hair on the crown and the sides of the head.
You can get your own natural 4c hairstyles all the while also gain elasticity, fullness, and thickness as a result of this treatment, while the foam adds volume and fullness to the hair by lifting the roots.
Long-lasting, natural texture and controls flyways, and has an anti-frizz composition.
Foam with medium control and boosts hair with flexible fullness and a daring, audacious style.
Dove Beauty Refresh + Care Volume & Fullness Dry Shampoo: Foster has been using this dry spray shampoo for five years since it “quickly absorbs” oil between washes.
She also emphasized that this particular dry shampoo is great for people with “hair that’s fine and thin, or with a color change.” Dove has also made the promise that they have tested these formulas and are confident they will work for you.
I love the enticing amber aroma and the refreshing cooling effect it left on her scalp.
With a 4.3-star average rating from over 3,600 reviews, Dove’s dry shampoo is the most economical option on our list, and it is available in 13 different scents, including Fresh & Floral Dry Shampoo and Fresh Coconut Dry Shampoo.

Leave that typical goddess flat twist, and start getting your hands on this one!
This technique includes additional flat twists for a more modern appearance, and you can even create it on previously stretched or flat ironed hair.
Multiple flat twists into a contemporary goddess flat twist, and yes, clippers are necessary.
This is how you do Goddess Flat Twists:
1. Start with your hair already combed out, with hair straightened or curled.
2. Use a comb to pull your hair back and start twisting at the crown of your head.
3. Pull the hair to one side of your head and then back to the other side.
4. Keep twisting and pulling, and pull the hair back into a ponytail.
5. Take a flat iron and start flattening the ponytail.
6. Use a comb to flatten the hair and start twisting again.
7. Continue flattening and twisting until you get the look you want.
8. Once you’re satisfied with the look, comb out your hair.
9. Take a small amount of hair and braid it into a bun.
10. Style the bun as desired.
I’ve been wanting to try out the multiple goddess flat twists technique, and it was one of the ones I picked out. I didn’t have a flat iron, but I did have a heat protectant spray. So, I thought it’d be a good idea to try it out, and I did!
Quick Natural Hairstyles 4C – Classic Afro Hairstyles
This is a simple Afro style that will help you achieve the look of a classic Afro with ease. The haircut in question has been around since the 1960s. It’s an easy and versatile style that can be used to create lots of different looks.
This is how you do it:
1. First, trim off the sides of your hair. Start by cutting a few inches off the bottom of your hair. Then start trimming the sides of your head.
For the most natural look, start at the crown of your head and work your way down.
2. After you’ve trimmed the sides of your hair, you’ll need to trim the top of your head. Start from the top and work your way down to the rear of your head. You can either use fingers or a pair of scissors to trim the top of your head.
3. Next, grab a comb and comb your hair from the back to the front. Use your fingers to comb your hair from the back of your head to the front. This will help you get a clean, smooth look.
4. When you’ve finished combing your hair, grab a mirror and start to see if you’ve achieved the look you were going for. If you think you’ve done a good job, then you’re ready to style your hair.
5. Start by applying some hair spray.
6. Next, grab your styling tools and begin to work your hair. Grab your flat iron and work the flat iron from the top to the bottom of your hair.
